TEACHER SECTION

David Beach is a Buddhist-Dhamma practitioner in the Theravadan Tradition. He has studied many prominent teachers in both the Theravadan and Mahayana Buddhist traditions.

His own practice was established during a period of incarceration for drug charges. After years of battling drug addiction, David sought to find relief from the sufferings of addiction. He participated as a member of the prison's Buddhist Community, where he began a regular practice of mindfulness meditation. While incarcerated, David established and conducted a Yoga training program for himself and fellow inmates. It was here that he began to see how "change" is truly an inside job.

Prior to his release from prison, he received transmission of The Teachings, taking Refuge Vows from Sister Ellie Finlay, a student of the Karma Kagyu lineage. On receiving transmission he was given the name Karma Metta (Actions of Loving Kindness).

Today, David lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma with his wife and son. He is a full-time student and works along with his wife and son, manufacturing meditation cushions and supplies, from their home-based company; "GoodSit". David offers recovery-based Dhamma talks and training in Vipassana Meditation.

He founded and co-leads; "Middle Path" a Dhamma-based recovery group in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He continues to support the prison yoga program which he founded and publishes "STRETCH - A Yoga Journal for the Incarcerated Practitioner".
